简介(Brief Introduction):
Otolaryngology, commonly known as ENT, offers a unique convergence of sensory physiology, airway biomechanics, and human communication, making it an ideal domain for translational innovation. In this talk, Dr. Yike Li presents a multidisciplinary journey integrating neuroengineering, informatics, and clinical science. The first part introduces advances in neurostimulation for obstructive sleep apnea, highlighting the efficacy of a novel approach—ansa cervicalis stimulation—in maintaining airway patency. The second part focuses on electrical stimulation strategies for bilateral vocal fold paralysis, aiming to restore dynamic laryngeal function to improve voicing and breathing. The final section explores how ENT-specific data, including acoustic signals, airflow waveforms, facial portraits, ultrasound, and endoscopic images, can be harnessed through AI and informatics to unlock diagnostic and therapeutic insights. These studies demonstrate how the rich and diverse data landscape in otolaryngology enables novel machine learning applications, from intraoperative guidance to predictive modeling and automated diagnostics. The talk concludes with a discussion on future directions at the intersection of engineering, informatics, and precision medicine in ENT.
