Recently, the winners of the 45th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asian Regional Competition (Nanjing Station) were announced. The ShanghaiTech University representative team, composed of three undergraduate students from the SIST, won the gold award. This was the first time that ShanghaiTech has won the gold award in the computer algorithm competition.

ICPC is an annual competition designed to showcase university students' innovative ability, team spirit, ability to write codes, and to analyze and solve problems under pressure. After more than 30 years of development, it has now developed into the most influential college student computer competition. This ICPC Asian Regional Competition (Nanjing Station) was hosted by the ICPC Asian Regional Committee and undertaken by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The competition attracted a total of 551 participating teams from 208 colleges and universities.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the competition was held online (https://ac.nowcoder.com). Each participating team is comprised of three college students who can use only one computer to solve thirteen complex algorithmic problems within five hours. The winner is the team scoring the most correct answers in the shortest time. In this competition, the winning team, freshmen He Kai and Li Wenchao and sophomore Xu Hongtu, succeeded in solving 6 complex algorithm problems and won the gold medal. This competition fully demonstrates the solid professional competence of ShanghaiTech's students and their teamwork ability.
