Background subtraction method and black hole thermodynamics

报告人简介:
张宏宝教授,现就职于北京师范大学物理与天文学院。北师大本科,北大硕士,北师大、加拿大圆周理论物理研究所以及滑铁卢大学联合培养博士。曾先后在希腊克里特大学,比利时布鲁塞尔自由大学以及索尔维国际研究所从事博士后研究工作。目前主要研究兴趣包括数值相对论及其在天体物理与全息引力的应用,以及协变相空间及其在场论与引力理论中的应用。

讲座摘要:
Conventionally there are two methods to obtain the final result for the partition function of black hole in Euclidean quantum gravity. One is holographic renormalization and the other is background subtraction, where the latter appears rather ad hoc and restrictive compared to the former. In this talk, I will argue that the latter is actually as applicable as the former using covariant phase space formalism. I will conclude my talk with its potential implication in higher directive correction to black hole thermodynamics.
