ShanghaiTech and University of Padua renew their MOU to deepen cooperation in biomedicine

On November 10, Professor Rosario Rizzuto, chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Padua (Unipd), and Professor Tito Cali visited ShanghaiTech University.

 

Vice President Jiang Ge met with the guests. Both parties jointly renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of biomedical sciences, aiming to further promote faculty and student exchanges as well as collaborative research.

Jiang Ge stated that ShanghaiTech has maintained close collaboration with Unipd for many years. This renewal will further strengthen research cooperation and student training in cutting-edge biomedical fields between the two universities, contributing to the advancement of global health research.

 

Professor Rizzuto introduced the research capabilities and teaching resources of Unipd and its Department of Biomedical Sciences, as well as the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs based on RNA Technology, which he leads in Italy. The center possesses internationally leading expertise in gene therapy and RNA technology, providing a solid foundation for future collaboration between both parties.

 

During the visit, Professors Rizzuto and Cali also toured ShanghaiTech’s Lab of Macromolecule Drug Delivery, Lab of Calcium Signaling, Lab of RNA Modification/tRNA Biology, and Lab of In-Cell Structural Biology. They gained in-depth understanding of each research group’s focus and latest achievements, and discussed the possibility of future reciprocal exchanges.
