President Jiang Meets Nobel Laureate and ShanghaiTech Distinguished Adjunct Professor Michael Levitt

On March 12th, President Jiang Mianheng met with SIAIS Distinguished Adjunct Professor Michael Levitt during his stay in Shanghai for research work at ShanghaiTech. SIAIS Executive Director Jiang Ge and Levitt’s Co-PI Francesco Zonta attended the meeting.

Professor Levitt briefed his research at ShanghaiTech on antibody structure prediction, virtual antibody screening, whole cell and simulation. President Jiang expressed his hope that Professor Levitt could reap more outcomes by furthering his cutting edge research. He added that he hoped ShanghaiTech could work closely with Professor Levitt's lab at Stanford to strengthen the internationalization of ShanghaiTech’s research team and graduate student training.

Michael Levitt is a professor at Stanford University, a world-renowned biophysicist, a member of the Royal Society (UK), a member of the National Academy of Sciences (US), a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. His first visit to ShanghaiTech was in October 2017, when he gave two academic talks to faculty and students, paving the way for further collaborations with ShanghaiTech. In April 2018, Michael Levitt became a Distinguished Adjunct Professor of SIAIS, leading a computational biology lab.
