The Young Scholars Forum 2023 of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMS) will be held at ShanghaiTech from December 16 to 17, 2023. The forum aims to be an excellent academic platform for scholars worldwide who are passionate in mathematical research to exchange their inspiring ideas. It is also a rare opportunity for scholars to walk in and deeply experience the charm of IMS and ShanghaiTech. We sincerely invite those who are seeking promising academic positions to participate in the forum, and with your dedicated engagement, we will establish an international first-class mathematics education and research center in Shanghai.

There are four categories in the faculty appointments of IMS:
a. Research Assistant Professor
b. Assistant Professor
c. Associate Professor
d. Full Professor
New faculty members are expected to be appointed as either Assistant or Associate Professors depending on their academic experience. Research Assistant Professor positions are also available. The teaching load of all faculty members is two one-semester courses per year.
Applicants for the Assistant Professor positions are expected to have demonstrated the potential to be internationally leading researchers, and those applied for the Associate Professors should be established experts in their fields. All positions in IMS are set under the “tenure-track” system, and have a six-year duration.
Remunerations are competitive and subsidized housing is available on campus.

Brief introduction of IMS
Opening in fall 2018, IMS aspires to be a leading research center for mathematics. The Institute enjoys unique resources in interdisciplinary teaching and research by ShanghaiTech, providing an ideal environment for world-class scholars to faciliate cultivation for a new generation of creative talents in all areas of mathematics. Faculty members will have significant support in recruiting postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students. The Institute will regularly host international research conferences and long-term research programs. Additionally, visiting professors, both for short-term and for long-term, are welcomed to IMS for exchange.
