Abstract:

This talk discusses the methods aiming to break through the efficiency and power density restrictions in switching mode power supply fields. The loss models of switching devices in boost power factor correction (PFC) topology and soft-switching DCX topology with multi-level cellular structure are presented. The loss models reveal the inherent limitation of the losses related to the switching devices at MHz high frequency. According to the loss models, the quantitative design methodologies for optimizations of the efficiency and power density of the PFC topology and the isolated DCX topology based on low-voltage devices are obtained.
