ShanghaiTech University and BYD have established the ShanghaiTech-BYD Scholarship, creating new opportunities to support outstanding students while strengthening collaboration in student education and industry engagement.
The scholarship was officially launched at a donation ceremony held last month.
Speaking at the event, Zhang Qi, vice president of ShanghaiTech, thanked BYD for its support of the university’s educational mission. He said the scholarship will encourage students to pursue academic excellence and innovation while helping prepare the next generation of innovators to meet the needs of emerging industries and technological advancement.
Chen Wujun, human resources director for East China at BYD, said the scholarship reflects the company’s commitment to supporting higher education and investing in future leaders. He expressed BYD’s expectation of working more closely with ShanghaiTech to foster innovation and cultivate highly skilled professionals.
Representatives from ShanghaiTech and BYD also exchanged ideas on expanding collaboration in student development, frontier research, and industry internships, exploring new opportunities to connect academic education with industrial innovation.

Following the ceremony, the BYD delegation toured labs and teaching facilities on campus to learn more about ShanghaiTech’s strengths and features in academic platforms and student education.
