—A ShanghaiTech-incubated startup announced the completion of a new financing round worth several hundred million RMB.

In 2020, while they were still students at ShanghaiTech University, Wu Di ’19, MS ’23 and his laboratory teammates Zhang Qixuan ’22, a doctoral student in Computer Science at the School of Information Science and Technology (SIST), Zhang Longwen ’22, a doctoral student in Computer Science at the SIST, and Zeng Chuxiao ’20, MS ’24, founded Deemos, aiming to bring original research from the laboratory into real-world applications. The startup, whose founding team had an average age of just 24, later obtained an exclusive license to ShanghaiTech intellectual property, marking the beginning of its journey in technology commercialization.

Recently, Deemos announced the completion of a new financing round worth several hundred million RMB. The funding will support continued research and development of 3D foundation models and accelerate the global commercialization of its flagship product, Hyper3D.

Since its founding, Deemos has focused on AI-driven 3D content generation. As generative AI has advanced, the team has expanded its research from digital humans to 3D generation technologies, developing production-ready tools that enable the creation of high-quality 3D assets for industries including gaming, e-commerce, industrial design, and robotics.

“Images and videos only need to look right, but the 3D industry needs assets that work,” said Wu Di, founder and CEO of Deemos. “From day one, we have prioritized controllability, reliability, and real-world usability over visual appeal alone. Our goal is to create AI-generated 3D assets that can be seamlessly integrate into professional production workflows.”

Alongside the financing, Deemos unveiled the latest version of Hyper3D, further improving generation quality, controllability, and production efficiency. The company plans to continue advancing native 3D foundation models, expand industrial applications, and accelerate its global growth.

From laboratory research to entrepreneurship, and from scientific innovation to industrial application, Deemos reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of ShanghaiTech’s young innovators and the university’s commitment to translating research breakthroughs into real-world impact.
