ShanghaiTech Hosts 2015 Research and Innovation Tour

2015 Research and Innovation Tour Information Day was held in ShanghaiTech on October 14th. On the occasion of the 40thanniversary of EU-China relations, the Tour’s objective is to consolidate Europe's position as a strong partner and destination for China with regards to science and innovation cooperation. It is the 4thedition of an ambitious awareness raising campaign throughout 16 cities in 14 provinces across China and serves as a visible sign of the joint efforts of the Delegation of the European Union to China, the Embassies and Consulates of the EU Member States and Countries Associated to the Framework Program based in China, the China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC) under the Ministry of Science and Technology and EURAXESS.


ShanghaiTech Vice President ShanghaiTech Gong Jinkang first extended a warm welcome to the delegates. CSTEC Deputy Director General Dr. Xing Jijun, and Counselor of Delegation of European Commission Dr. Laurent Bochereau, addressed the group.


Delegates from Austria, Denmark, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, UK, Spain and Switzerland introduced their research landscape and funding programs respectively. EU Delegation representatives made a brief introduction to Horizon 2020 and EURAXESS Links. The Tour also fostered a better understanding of European policies and instruments by inviting Chinese partners from academic and industrial worlds to share their experiences and progress. School of Information and Technology Professor Yang Yang made a program testimonial.


In the afternoon, the delegation paid a visit to ShanghaiTech campus, Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS) and Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility.


The Tour helped to inform our faculty of the latest European policies and instruments and facilitated exchanges and cooperation between ShanghaiTech and EU members.
