ShanghaiTech Initiates its First Summer Session

ShanghaiTech University’s undergraduate programs are organized on a trimester system. In addition to spring semester and fall semester, the summer session provides students with enriched compulsory and elective courses. The first summer session was initiated in July and is made up of a package of courses and lectures. The curriculum includes but is not limited to dozens of course design projects offered by tenure track professors from the School of Information Science and Technology, Basic Theory and Method of Modern Biology and Research Ethics from the School of Life Science and Technology, Nurturing Creative Intelligence by professors from The Juilliard School at the invitation of School of Entrepreneurship and Management and Business Writing by foreign experts. Students are also exposed to art through Music Understanding, which is offered by professors from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Artistic Expression, taught by young painters. The summer session emphasizes various facets of holistic personal development, through which students gain interdisciplinary knowledge in natural and social sciences.
