On November 30th, 2015, the First Session of the First Faculty Committee Meeting was held.
On September 23rd, 2015, ShanghaiTech and MIT signed a Special Student Pilot Agreement.
On September 30th, 2014, ShanghaiTech’s first cohort of 207 undergraduate students started their first day of the 2014 semester.
On June 18th, 2014, ShanghaiTech University and University of Chicago signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch academic, scientific and cultural collaboration.
On February 2014,ShanghaiTech Founding President Jiang Mianheng and University Council Chairman Zhu Zhiyuan were inaugurated.

On January 24th, 2014, China's Ministry of Education approved ShanghaiTech's 2014 undergraduate enrollment plan.

The 1st meeting of ShanghaiTech University Board of trustees was held on December 28th, 2013.

On December 3rd, 2013, the 1st SIAIS Scientific Governance Board Meeting was held by Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS), ShanghaiTech University.

On December 1st, 2013, the first Annual Shanghai GPCR Forum was held by iHuman Institute, ShanghaiTech University. More than 200 people from over 50 research organizations and international pharmaceutical companies attended this forum.

On September 30th, 2013, China’s Ministry of Education approved the official establishment of ShanghaiTech University.


On September 25th, 2013, ShanghaiTech and Amgen signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form strategic partnership and to set up Amgen China R&D Center in ShanghaiTech campus.

ShanghaiTech’s first batch of 296 graduate students started their first day of 2013 semester on September 3rd. The inauguration ceremony was held in CAS Shanghai Pudong Science Park.

ShanghaiTech University has successfully held the 1st  High School Summer Program from August 9th to 11th with 154 students coming from 22 high schools nationwide.

On the morning of July 8th, ShanghaiTech 2013 summer camp for undergraduates formally kicked off in YueYang Road campus with 212 participants from 123 universities all over the country.

May 11th, 2013, the ceremony marking the beginning of construction of ShanghaiTech University was held in Pudong Science and Technology Park of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

On March 29th, 2013, Professor Appointment Ceremony of ShanghaiTech-iHuman Institute for Nobel Laureate Kurt Wüthrich was held.

On December 28th, ShanghaiTech University laid its foundation in Pudong Science and Technology Park of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which marks substantial progress has been made in the preparatory work for establishing the university.

On December 28th, ShanghaiTech Professor Appointment Ceremony was held.

From December 9th-13th, 2012 Frontiers of Information Science and Technology Workshop (FIST-2012) was successfully hosted by ShanghaiTech University.

On November 20th, 2012, the unveiling ceremony of iHuman Institute was held. Prof. Raymond C. Stevens, was appointed Founding Director of iHuman.

On November 12th, 2012, Dr. Roger D. Kornberg, winner of 2006 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, was appointed Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies( SIAIS) Professor by ShanghaiTech.

On October 29th, 2012, ShanghaiTech University and the University of California, Berkeley signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a collaboration in education, culture, and scientific research over the next five years.

On October 12th, 2012, the unveiling ceremony of Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies (SIAIS) was held. Prof. Richard A. Lerner, Former Director of The Scripps Research Institute and Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, was appointed Founding Director of SIAIS.

On April 28th, 2012, China’s Ministry of Education approved the planning for ShanghaiTech University.

On February 23rd, 2012, the ShanghaiTech University Development Steering Group chose the campus master plan by Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners from 5 proposals.

On May 23rd, 2011, Shanghai Municipal Government and Chinese Academy of Sciences decided to jointly form the ShanghaiTech Development Steering Group and the ShanghaiTech Development Working Group.


On December 26th, 2010, Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of CAS officially settled in the Pudong Science and Technology Park of CAS.

On September 26th, 2008, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Shanghai Municipal Government signed a Broad Collaboration Agreement to capture synergies and establish jointly the Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Park of CAS, the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute (SARI) of CAS, and a research university.

On April 14th, 2006, Shanghai Municipal Government agreed to co-develop CAS Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Park with CAS Shanghai Branch, and allocated 1 km2 land for this purpose.


On August 19th, 2005, the CAS Shanghai Branch proposed to materialize the conceptual CAS Shanghai Pudong Science and Technology Park, which included a “scientific innovation base” and an “education base”.


On June 23rd, 2004, Shanghai Municipal Government and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) intiated the planning of a research university in Pudong New Area.
