Director General of European Commission Joint Research Center Visits ShanghaiTech

On July 4th 2016, Dr. Vladimir Sucha, Director General of European Commission Joint Research Center (JRC) visited ShanghaiTech. Associate Provost Jiang Ge welcomed the delegation and gave a presentation on the development of the university. JRC has been collaborating with some research institutes of Chinese Academy of Sciences, said Dr. Vladimir Sucha, and he was very interested to learn more about ShanghaiTech as an innovative university. He hoped that, by this visit, he would know the potential for collaboration. Both sides agreed to create opportunities for further communication and exchange.


After the meeting, Dr. Vladimir Sucha toured the new campus and visited the Robotics lab of Prof.Soren Schwertfeger from School of Information Science and Technology.


JRC is the European Commission's in-house science service, which provides independent scientific and technical advice to the European Commission to support a wide range of European Union policies. It has seven scientific institutes—located at six different sites in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain. Its research areas span from energy, transport to agriculture and nuclear technologies.
