About SANTANDER and “WISE Learners′ Voice Program”, a QATAR FOUNDATION initiative
In November 2013, Santander Universities signed an agreement with the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an initiative of Qatar Foundation. As a Premium Sponsor of WISE, we support the development of the WISE Accelerator Program and the growth of the Learners' Voice Program.
Qatar Foundation, under the leadership of its Chairperson, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser established the World Innovation Summit for Education in 2009. WISE is an international, multi-sectoral platform for creative thinking, debate and purposeful action. WISE has established itself as a global reference in new approaches to education. Through the Summit and a range of ongoing programs WISE is promoting innovation and building the future of education through collaboration.
The objective of the WISE Learners’ Voice Program is to bring the voice of young people to the challenge of rethinking education, and to equip them with skills to take on leading roles in their fields and in the world of education. The Program is based on the conviction that when learners are co-creators of their learning environments they become active participants, invested collectively as stakeholders in the progress of their communities. The Program focuses on building their knowledge of education and social entrepreneurship, as well as their leadership and communication skills.
GLOBAL CALL: WISE Learners′ Voice Program
The Learners’ Voice Program is a year-long program consisting of two residential sessions, online and on-site activities, and the development of group projects seeking innovative solutions to pressing educational issues. The residential sessions take place in Doha, in early January, and Madrid (Santander Financial City) in June. Each residential session is two weeks long and consists of full-day workshops. Attendance is mandatory. The workshops are administered by expert faculty from Babson College and Yale University (Yale World Fellows), among others. This program is educational at its core and seeks to develop twenty-first century skill-sets in promising young people from all over the world.
WISE is now seeking a new cohort of outstanding young learners aged 18 to 25, from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, who are passionate about education and social impact, to join this growing global community. Participants can apply or be nominated to take part in the Program. Eligibility criteria and guidelines can be found on the WISE website.
WISE - Qatar Foundation will cover all Program-related costs, including air fares and accommodation for the selected participants. The WISE team is responsible for evaluating all applications and making the final selection.
The global call for applications is now open and will run until 1500 GMT on 31 March 2016. Application and nomination forms can be completed online at www.wise-qatar.org and must be submitted via the online platform.
